Jean Merville

About me

Hello, my name is Jean. I'm a Software Development Engineer II at Amazon, currently based in Atlanta, working on Prime Video's subscription systems and internal tooling that power thousands of channels worldwide.
My work focuses on building scalable systems that support complex subscription lifecycles — from pricing and promotions to partner integrations and customer experiences across regions. I've also led cross-functional projects, including delivering high-impact features like Prime Video's ad-free subscription offering under tight timelines.
I started my journey at York University in Toronto, where I studied Computer Science and worked as a Teaching Assistant for multiple semesters. During that time, I joined Amazon as an intern on the Prime Video team, which later turned into a full-time role in London before relocating to the US.
Outside of my core work, I enjoy building side projects — from frontend-heavy applications to automation tools running on AWS. I've also explored blockchain and decentralized applications, particularly on networks like Polkadot.
Outside of tech, I spend most of my time working out, playing guitar, bass and the drums. I recently started painting. I also enjoy traveling and experiencing new cultures whenever I get the chance.

Side Projects

MoonVegas

MoonVegas

MoonVegas is a blockchain-based gaming platform featuring two provably fair games — a raffle and a coin flip — powered by EVM smart contracts.

In the raffle, players purchase tickets and a winner is selected at random once all tickets are sold, claiming the entire prize pool.

The coin flip game lets players bet on heads or tails, doubling their money on a correct guess.

The project was built with Solidity for the smart contract backend and React with Next.js for the frontend. It showcases full-stack Web3 development, combining on-chain game logic with a modern, responsive user interface.

ElrondPunks

ElrondPunks

ElrondPunks was the first NFT collection ever minted on the Elrond blockchain.

Built both the smart contract backend and the frontend from scratch, handling the full NFT minting lifecycle on-chain.

Much of the project's success was driven by being first to market — launching before any other NFT project on the network created strong demand and community momentum.

The project has since been acquired, and is now operated under new ownership after the original team sold it.

CS Bot is designed to feel less like a robot and more like your friend 🤖.

Maze App

Maze App
